TOW/HAUL MODE

Tow/Haul mode is a feature that controls the transmission to reduce the shift cycling in the transmission in order to assist in hauling heavy loads without mechanically damaging your truck. This provides you with extra control and performance when heavy-duty towing, and especially helpful when heading up or down steep grades. When heading downhill, your truck in Tow/Haul mode will downshift sooner than normal, preventing extra wear on your brakes.

To activate Tow/Haul mode on a new Silverado, turn the knob found on the left side of the steering wheel to the left toward the trailer symbol. This will keep your Tow-Haul mode on. On the new Chevrolet Silverado HD’s, the Tow-Haul mode will stay engaged for up to four hours through the next time your truck is turned on. A newly-added reminder will also be provided when the Tow/Haul mode is still on after the vehicle is started. For older or other models, Tow/Haul mode can also be found on the column shifter, as a button or dial under the entertainment controls, and more.

Remote Start is a convenient feature that starts your Chevrolet vehicle before you enter! This feature gets your engine running and climate controlled before you and your family get inside. Perfect for those days of extreme temperatures!

You can remote start your vehicle with either the key fob or smartphone app. These apps are run by Onstar through either the OnStar RemoteLink app or in the myChevrolet app. The remote start button on the key fob is indicated by a circular arrow shape. The vehicle must be locked and parked in order for the Remote Start feature to work. When all conditions are met, the Remote Start button can be held down with the key fob pointed towards your vehicle and start your vehicle.

When your vehicle is started by remote, the vehicle starts and stays locked and running for 10 minutes. This continues until the vehicle is physically started with the key turned into the “ON” position in the ignition cylinder, or when the Start button is pressed along with the brake pedal.

Many of our vehicles on our lot here at Speck Motors are equipped with this convenient feature! Contact our sales team today to learn more about how you can get into a vehicle equipped with Remote Start and much more. View our inventory online here!

CAR CARE TIPS

Make sure your coolant system is working properly.

The cooling system keeps your engine from overheating, which can be an occurrence more likely to happen in the heat of the Summer season. Check hoses for any leaks or cracks, and ensure your coolant is clean and topped off. If your vehicle may need it, a coolant flush is a good idea to schedule.

Keep your fluids up.

The fluids inside your vehicle are key to keep everything working in proper order. Fluids work hard to keep your engine systems cool in the extreme heat. Your fluids include brake fluid, power steering fluid, coolant, transmission fluid, and the most regularly checked — motor oil. Oil should be changed regularly in order for a smooth-running engine.

Inspect your brakes.

When braking, especially from high speeds, the friction produces a lot of heat. The extra heat from the Summer can create even more wear on your brakes. It is a good idea to get your brakes inspected to ensure that your brakes are ready to handle the Summer roads.

Check your tire pressure regularly.

Whether it is drastic heat or drastic cold, the outside temperature can have an effect on your tire pressure. Heat can cause your tire pressure to increase, and a sudden drop of temperature can do just the opposite to your tires. It’s a good idea to give a good glance over your tires before you head out on your way, and be sure to get a professional inspection regularly to make sure your tires are healthy.
